Ripening the Fruit
Pregnancy
A new study validates what eastern medical practitioners have been saying for thousands of years: acupuncture can significantly improve a couple’s chances of getting pregnant.
The study, published in the April 2007 Fertility & Sterility Journal, found that certain groups and conditions strongly benefited from acupuncture treatments. For instance, the study found that IVF patients with a Male Factor diagnoses whose female partners were under 38 years of age had a 29 percent greater chance of pregnancy than control groups not receiving acupuncture. The study also found significantly improved outcomes in female patients who are more than 40 years of age.
Acupuncture treatments can help:
- Prevent Miscarriage
- Relieve Morning Sickness
- Induce labor
There are points that are forbidden to needle during pregnancy because of their known ability to induce labor. Once a baby is full term, these points can be used to stimulate uterine contractions and induce labor. - Provide anesthesia during labor
Studies have shown that women who had acupuncture for anesthesia during delivery required significantly less pain medication and fewer epidurals. - Relieve post-partum pain and depression
- Promote lactation
